Maldives: The Dream Destination For Couples

Mr. ESLT and I have just celebrated our 8th wedding anniversary. That means it’s 8 years since our wonderful honeymoon. For us we wanted pure relaxation in our honeymoon, at least for most. We had a great traditional white wedding that took a year to plan. If you have already planned or are in the process of planning a wedding, you will know how stressful it can be. Therefore, after the stress of organizing flowers, cakes, centerpieces and favors (among a million and something else), we wanted to have a honeymoon where we could sit down, relax, eat good food and not have to worry for a few weeks. Deciding where to go was difficult as there are of course a number of places that tick the box perfect honeymoon destination around the world.

However, one that is a favorite for many is the Maldives. It’s no wonder that there are still different lists of honeymoon destinations. There are a number of reasons why honeymoons in the Maldives are so popular and will remain so for the foreseeable future. That’s why we listed some of the most important reasons.

Breathtaking Landscapes

If private islands, and miles of beautiful white sandy beaches, crystal clear waters and gently swaying palm trees are your thing, then the Maldives is the place for you if you are looking for the perfect honeymoon destination.

Many people choose the stunning islands of the Indian Ocean for their honeymoon because of the unsurpassed scenery. Imagine a picnic on a secluded beach or a view of the sea from the veranda of your water villa while enjoying a cold glass of fizz with your love at your side-bliss.

Amazing Hotels

Speaking of water villas, there are a number of luxury hotels in the Maldives that offer them. One of them is the beautiful Anantara Kihavah, located on Baa Atoll on a UNESCO biosphere Reserve with luxurious villas and private infinity pools. Enjoy the ultimate romantic dinner under the sea surface and explore the world’s first underwater wine cellar at sea in the hotel’s underwater restaurant. So if you’re looking for your own corner of private paradise with a personal villa host, if your budget can stretch that far, look no further.

If you, like us, are looking for a relaxing honeymoon after the stress of organizing your big day, the Maldives is the place to be. You can enjoy a wellness day or simply lie on a deck chair from morning to evening, if you want, without moving a muscle. Unless you accept another cocktail from your server or drag the next page on your Kindle course. It will give you and your new spouse the opportunity to relax and connect as a married couple without the trials and tribulations of the real world.

Tempting food

If you spend a week or two on an island in the Maldives, you need to choose your hotel wisely, which brings us back to our earlier statement about luxury hotels. You will need to look for the culinary options in your hotel as it is likely that you will eat there every day all day. So if buffets aren’t your thing for every meal, read the hotel’s reviews, blogs and website to make sure the hotel you choose has good à la carte restaurants with a wide selection of dishes (both local and international) to choose from.

Water Sports Galore

You may think that you don’t want to do anything during your honeymoon, but when you get there, you may realize that you’re having trouble standing still, in the beginning anyway. Therefore, your perfect honeymoon destination must offer something more. Don’t worry, the Maldives have a number of water sports that you can participate in if you want to get your adrenaline pumping.

From windsurfing to kayaking, snorkelling and kitesurfing, we’re sure you’ll find something to take part in. If you want of course. Imagine the sun on your face and the sand in your hair.
