Visit Bali: Places To See Other Than Nightlife in Kuta

When we visited Bali in 2021, we didn’t really know what to expect, even though we’d done a ton of research. We had heard such stories and narratives on the Island. The biggest Warning we had received was not Stay in Kuta. As we are a couple in our thirties and forties, we usually avoid the party cities of a country we visit. Don’t get me wrong,we like to have a drink and have a good time, but what we had heard about Kuta did not seem like somewhere we would lean on for a longer period. However, there was no way we would give him the Swerve all together. We wanted to see if the visions of pure debauchery we had built in our minds were true.

Needless to say, they were not. Yes-it’s very much a young person / Backpacker scene. But that doesn’t mean we didn’t enjoy the time we spent in Kuta. In fact, there are many things to see and do and this is somewhere you should at least experience when visiting Bali. If not just to say, you have seen it for yourself. The City is known for its nightlife. Yes, it’s pretty wild, but it’s not the only thing Kuta has for it. It is a lively and cheeky city. But if you scratch just below the surface, a few good things are waiting to be discovered.

Try street food

When traveling to eat, Indonesia is a big part of the world to visit. We found fantastic food in Bali, especially street food in Kuta. When the sun goes down, carts line the streets and the views and smells are unreal. No visit to this part of the world is over if you don’t give up a massive portion of Indonesian favorite Nasi Goreng served on a paper plate from a street vendor. The best Part – the Price. For pennies, you can eat like kings from the stalls of Kuta street. Other delicious dishes that you will find in abundance are Sate (Satay), Nasi Jinggo and not to mention Laklak (a Balinese cake) – yum!

Hit The Beach

Images of dirty and polluted beaches can fill your mind when you think of Kuta Beach. And we expected it. However, during our visit we found golden sand beaches where there was no trash in sight. Instead, we found many people who like to spend the day relaxing and frolicking in the warm waters. Kuta Beach is known as Sunset Beach and we now fully understand why. As dusk approaches, people flock to watch the sunset on the island from the shore with an icy Bintang in hand. The colors dancing in the sky are amazing. This is one of the most dazzling sunsets we have ever seen.

Learn to surf

Kuta is a great place to beat the waves if you are an experienced surfer, as it has some of the best waves in the world. However, it’s also a great place to learn to surf if you’ve never tried it before. Kuta is considered number one for surfers on the Island, making it a great place for beginners. Even as the waves are good all year round, there is no definite surf season. There are a number of surf schools in Kuta. Most of them you can simply appear in the daytime. That is, if you have one too many the night before (which is easily possible in Kuta), you have not lost anything (be it money or the contents of your stomach).

Visit The Trick Eye Museum

Bali can get hot / humid and sometimes hot and humid. Therefore, it is always good to have a List of a few things when time is not on your side. The Trick Eye Museum, located in the Dream Museum Zone on the outskirts of Kuta, is a great Option and is also family-friendly. The museum is full of (about 120) gigantic interactive 3D artworks, ideal for posing. Therefore, make sure you have your camera with you for all comedy shots, including swimming underwater, surfing and even sitting in a monster’s mouth. This fun museum is worth a visit if you have time.

Straw bags are the main thing at the moment and can be found on the Internet. On the streets of Kuta, but beautifully designed doormats. It depends on Your Haggling Abilities. Therefore, you may want to save space in your luggage to pack a couple for you and your family and friends. If you don’t feel like haggling at the various stalls and shops, don’t worry. Kuta is also home to a number of fixed-price shops and shopping malls. Here is the price you see, the price you pay. Don’t miss the Kuta Art Market in Kuta Square, The perfect place to pick up a craft Souvenir.

Stay in a Luxury hotel’

Kuta is very popular with backpackers. That is why many people, including us before the visit, assumed that the only type of accommodation offered are hostels. But this is not the matter. Yes, there are a number of hostels if you are a backpacker or if you are traveling on a Budget. But if you have a little more money to inject and want to treat yourself, you will be happy to know that there are also a number of luxury hotels in Kuta. With sea views, beautiful swimming pools, a palace environment and not forgetting the waiter service, these hotels are the perfect place to relax.
